The IWC Portugieser collection is a testament to IWC Schaffhausen's rich heritage and craftsmanship. One of the oldest and most renowned watch families, the Portugieser combines the precision of pocket watches with wristwatch functionality. Known for its imposing size, simple Arabic numerals, slim feuille hands, and railway-track-style chapter ring, the Portugieser remains an iconic timepiece. New in 2024 is the introduction of four new dial colours that capture the unique atmosphere at different times of day and night: Horizon Blue, Dune, Obsidian and Silver Moon.
Portugieser Automatic 42 – Precision and Design
Continuing the late 1930s legacy, the Portugieser Automatic 42 combines chronometer precision with a distinctive design. The 42.4 mm model is powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 52011, has a Pellaton winding system and a power reserve of 7 days. The watch is available in various elegant versions with a stainless steel or gold case and alligator leather strap.
The Sporty Choice – Portugieser Chronograph
Since 1998, the Portugieser Chronograph has added sporty elegance to the collection. The signature vertical subdials enhance readability on the 41 mm stainless steel case. This model is powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 69355, a mechanical chronograph movement developed with a focus on robustness, reliability and longevity. The Portugieser Chronograph is available with either a sparkling beige or black dial and a black alligator leather strap.
Haute Horlogerie – Portugieser Perpetual Calendar
IWC’s perpetual calendar, introduced in the 1980s and first presented in the Portugieser collection in 2003, is a hallmark of the collection. This model features a 44.4 mm Armor Gold® case, an Obsidian dial, and a black alligator leather strap. The perpetual calendar complication can be adjusted via a single crown, displaying both Northern and Southern Hemisphere moon phases with exceptional accuracy.
Portugieser Automatic 40 – Compact Elegance
Introduced in 2020, the Portugieser Automatic 40 brings the iconic design into a 40 mm case. Echoing the original 1939 Reference 325, it features a clean dial with small seconds at 6 o'clock. The 18-carat gold case and Obsidian dial are complemented by a black alligator leather strap. The Automatic 40 is powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 82200, has a Pellaton winding system and boasts a power reserve of 60 hours.
