Sotheby's opens its first, purpose-built ultra-luxury retail destination worldwide, within the Zurich flagship store of Bucherer at Bahnhofstrasse 50. The Sotheby’s Salon at Bucherer is an innovative retail concept that showcases the depth of categories offered at Sotheby’s and presents them in an elevated new shopping experience where auction expertise meets retail excellence.
A Luxurious Multichannel Shopping Experience
It is the first time an auction house, opens a permanent cross-category luxury destination that offers clients a multichannel shopping experience featuring the world’s most coveted ultra-luxury brands. Not only does The Salon offer products that are from the most desirable brands in luxury, it also presents items with extraordinary provenance. The new boutique was conceived as a social destination where collectors gather, learn and share their passions in an industry leading luxury environment that ensures a discrete and private experience.
Sotheby’s and Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned: A Unique Partnership
The Salon is the latest in a series of innovations between Sotheby’s and Bucherer, building the success of their earlier collaborations in New York and Switzerland with in-store activations and offering of Bucherer’s Certified Pre-Owned Watches inventory on Sotheby’s online marketplace. The Salon at Bucherer is the result of over two years of careful planning and a shared vision to create a truly differentiated experience for collectors and shoppers in the art and luxury space.
The Client Experience
Situated on an entirely new third floor of Bucherer’s flagship store in Zurich, The Salon is a 160 square meter space that offers clients an airy, elegant and welcoming environment to explore some of the rarest and most desirable luxury and art items in the world. The regularly updated product portfolio includes jewellery, watches, handbags and accessories, sneakers and high-end streetwear, artworks and sports memorabilia throughout the floor. At its heart, is a custom-designed wine and spirits bar which offers a carefully selected assortment, curated by Sotheby’s Master of Wine, Vanessa Conlin. Sotheby’s Salon at Bucherer allows clients to purchase items in the space instantly, bid in live and online auctions and meet with a Sotheby’s specialist to receive valuations of their items and consign directly for sale at auction, retail, or private sale.

Sotheby’s Salon was conceived as a destination for connoisseurs and collectors to gather and share their knowledge and passion across the luxury, fashion and art sectors. Sotheby’s will regularly host events in the Salon throughout the year that offer education, experiences and exclusive previews spanning the luxury and lifestyle categories, such as masterclasses with our luxury category experts, tastings and dinners with our in-house Wine and Spirits specialist teams and bespoke events.
